Search Engines determine the content of a particular Webpage by analyzing the content, seeing what other Webpages are "saying" about that Webpage, and how that Webpage fits in the context of other Webpages in that Neighborhood. The SEO Engine™ uses Market Focus™ technology which enables the categorization of that Webpage. The SEO Engine, like other Search Engines, must also recognize attempts to take advantage of these algorithms by so-called "Black Hat" SEO techniques. Unfortunately, sometimes this also penalizes "White Hat" SEO and other unsuspecting Website owners.
This is where Keyword Stuffing analysis comes in. From the Webpage Scoresheet or Scorecard, a user of SEO Engine can determine whether or not a keyword or phrase has been overused, and to what extent. Simply click on the penalty listing to see which keywords are being penalized.
You will see a few columns in the Keyword Stuffing page which talk about Standard Deviations and Means. This is a fancy way of saying what is the normal usage of words and what is abnormal. The Mean is simply the average # of times that keywords on that Webpage appear. The Deviation from that Mean (represented by the mathematical term "Sigma") describes how far away from the Mean that this particular # of keyword occurrances is. It tells the Search Engine just how "normal" or "abnormal" the # of occurances is. By determining this, the Search Engine can "devalue" the keyword or penalize the Webpage in other ways. To avoid penalties, try to keep the # of occurrances below 5 sigmas.
