Link Analysis Reciprocal Links

Reciprocal Links

Reciprocal Links

Reciprocal Links are mutual Links between Webpages. External Outgoing Reciprocal Links are often associated with Link Exchanges and Link Farms, and nefarious schemes to ensure traffic for the two Websites involved. Because of this, Search Engines tend to weight Reciprocal Links less than normal Links. SEO Engine™ shows the weighting due to reciprocity of Links on the Link Scorecard Screens (PRO Members only). In some cases, Reciprocal Links are unavoidable. Internal Links (i.e. navigation Links, cross-subdomain navigation) are an example of this. Because the weighting of Links simply "deflect" the Link Flow® to other Links on a given Webpage, the aggregate effect (from a Search Engine's perspective) is achieved.

Site-Wide Reciprocal Links

Site-Wide Reciprocal Links are mutual Links between Websites. This is a unique variation of reciprocal linking, in that the reciprocity is not immediately apparent. Rather, the reciprocal Link is put on a different Webpage in the Website. As with normal (direct) reciprocal linking, site-wide reciprocal linking is often a normal occurance when done between subdomains of a larger top-level domain. However, this type of linking is also associated with "Black-Hat" SEO techniques in an attempt to avoid reciprocal linking penalties from Search Engines. As with most modern Search Engines, SEO Engine™ can easily determine these types of Links, and they are also weighted less than the "normal" Link.
